I am a front-end web designer / developer.

(I create websites and make them look pretty)

Why?

I love to create things to look back and say, "Woah, I made that!".

Creating beautiful and engaging websites is how I want to fulfill that passion.

I make websites to the latest and greatest standards which are currently HTML5 and CSS3. I not only want the site to look good but the code behind it to be semantically correct, for reasons such as disabled access. This is important as a big part of the online community have a disability such as blindness. If tools such as screen readers are to aid in reading webpages for example, they need to be semantically correct.

Philosophy

Websites need to be built for the purposes of the content. If you're a fashion or design firm / individual, you'd want your site to embody the company's colours and design ethic instead of plain and simple (like this site is!). If a site doesn't fit the role of the content on it, people would usually click off of the site.

"No design works unless it embodies ideas that are held common by the people for whom the object is intended."
– Adrian Forty

When people go to a website they shouldn't ponder about the design, they should consume the content, which is why I try to make my designs transparent.

"Design should never say, 'Look at me', it should always say, 'Look at this'."
– David Craib
